Open Church

We are committed to an Open Church policy throughout the week, as a means of witnessing to the Christian life in the city centre. In this, we aim to make full use of our resources of buildings and people.

Open Sanctuary

The church sanctuary is open for at least part of each weekday, to all who may wish to come in, for sight-seeing, quiet or prayer. It is staffed by volunteers. One of our lay workers or the Minister is often available too, to talk and listen to visitors.

Prayer service

Every Wednesday lunchtime, from 12.30 to 12.50, a short prayer service is held in the church (in front of the Covenant Prayer tapestry).

This is an opportunity for those visiting and working in the city centre to spend a few minutes in prayer.

Wednesday coffee

Every Wednesday morning, we serve coffee and tea to the public from 10.00 to 12.00. This is a very popular venue for shoppers.

Lunchbreak

Every Friday from 11.30 to 1.30 pm, inexpensive lunches are served to the public. An excellent range of home-cooked food is served, including soup, sandwiches, salads, cakes and desserts. It serves as a friendly meeting place, and we see many regular customers.

Rainbow House

Rainbow House is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10.30 to 2.00 pm in the large hall. This drop-in centre for accompanied pre-school children offers inexpensive snacks and lunches, children's portions, space to play, toys, books, climbing frame and baby feeding and changing facilities. For more information contact the co-ordinator during opening times or via the church office.

Phab Club

The Oxford Phab club for young people, some of whom have a physical disability, meets at Wesley Memorial each Friday at 7.30.

Other Organisations

The church premises also provide a base for voluntary organisations including Cruse, a national charity which offers help to those who have been bereaved, Christian Aid, the overseas aid agency. In these and other ways, we seek to emphasise our commitment to society beyond the church doors.

How To Get To Us

The easiest way to get to Wesley Mem is using the city's excellent public tranport links, walk or cycle.

If you're visiting from further away you may consider using the Park and Ride services around Oxford. The Church is a five minute walk from the train station.

There are parking spaces opposite the Church for blue badge holders.
